A 11-year-old student of a private school in Greater Noida, who was allegedly sexually abused by an administrative assistant inside the school premises, used to stay isolated because of the racial comments made about his complexion and ethnicity, his parents alleged.

The family of the victim has also approached the embassy concerned, which will now be writing to the External Affairs Ministry.

The mother of the child did not allow him to mingle with other children in the society to avoid harsh racial comments. “People call my children ‘Kalu’ because of his colour and ethnicity. He always faced this discrimination from other children and even teachers at school. I wanted to keep my child safe and away from any such hatred. That is why I did not allow him to go out much. He was more into computer games and recently, he had made two friends among his peers,” the boy’s mother said.

The mother of the child is from Maharashtra while the father is of African origin. The father has been living in India for the last 12 years.

The principal of the school where the boy studies has claimed that the victim’s mother always created a ruckus over small issues. On the other hand, the mother has claimed that the school’s attitude was quite careless when it came to the safety of her son.

“Once, I was informed by a senior girl student of the school that my son was beaten up by his classmates in wrestling, which took place inside the classroom. I went and asked the principal to install CCTV cameras inside the classrooms but she told me that she would rather buy more books instead of spending money on cameras. Very often, we were told that the school is going through a financial crisis and they are finding it difficult to pay their teachers also,” the mother said.

Neighbours of the family have claimed that the mother was very protective of her son and did not allow him to mingle with other children.

“The boy is a well-mannered kid and a good student but he never used to come out of his house to play with others. He is also a disciplined kid because his mother was quite strict with him,” said one of the family’s neighbours.

The boy’s mother has claimed that she was always worried for the safety of her child and her worst apprehensions have come true with this horrible incident.

“My child was facing the abuse for the last four years and in a way, it had become a secret between him and the accused. The school is trying to show that I used to trouble them over nothing but I always raised my voice whenever I saw that the school was not taking safety measures. The result of their laid-back attitude is in front of everybody. It is a betrayal of trust from the school’s side,” the mother said.
