Noida: Man arrested for allegedly stabbing wife

A day after a 23-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by carjackers near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the police said that it was her husband who stabbed her and have arrested him.

The victim, Bharti Yadav, in her statement said that her husband, Shravan, along with a friend, attempted to murder her. Shravan has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. According to the police, the victim said that her husband had asked for dowry from her. She also said that he had an affair with a woman, who is their tenant.

“As per Bharti’s statement to the magistrate, she was attacked by her husband and another person, whom she could not recognise,” said Yogesh Singh, superintendent of police, Noida.

The police have recovered the weapon.

Bharti continues to be critical at the hospital. “She has sustained numerous deep wounds on her neck, face, chin, hands and arms,” said Dr Sarika of Kailash Hospital.
