The mother of one of the accused in the Jewar gang-rape, murder and robbery case has moved an application before the magistrate stating that her son and nephew were picked up by police personnel in plainclothes from their house on May 31.
A resident of Jhajjar district in Haryana, the woman said she along with her brother-in-law reported the matter to Inspector General of Police, Rohtak, on June 1.
She also sent a copy of the complaint through registered post to the senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar, but no action was taken.
She said on June 14, she got a call from a person from the district court in Gautam Budh Nagar that her son and nephew were being sent to jail in connection with a case and that she should move their bail application.
According to her, she was informed that her son and nephew were arrested in a case registered at the Sector 58 police station in Noida. The woman said the district court in Gautam Budh Nagar released her son and nephew on bail on June 28.
On July 13, she along with her relatives and wellwishers met the police chief of Gautam Budh Nagar to complain about the matter. The police chief referred the matter to a circle officer, she claimed.
The circle officer informed them that after interrogation, the two accused will be released, she claimed. However, on July 24, she got to know through newspapers that her son and nephew have been charged with the gang-rape, murder and robbery that took place in on the highway off Jewar on May 25.
The complainant said on July 18, she reported the matter, via an email complaint, to the DGP, Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister’s office and the National Human Rights Commission
A police spokesperson said they have evidence to prove the involvement of the two men in planning the robbery of a private company. They have been recognized by three men who were robbed in Jewar on May 25, police claimed.
