Schoolgirl allegedly gangraped in Noida, 3 detained

Noida Police have detained three men on charges of rape by a minor girl, who alleged that they picked her up in their car and raped her in the city, officials said.

The girl's family approached the police on Wednesday night and lodged a complaint against the three men at Vijay Nagar police station.

"She has complained that the accused took her to Noida and gang-raped her. We have picked up the three youngsters and brought them to the police station.

Based on the complaint, we are in the process of lodging an FIR against the accused. One of them was already known to the girl," superintendent of police Shiv Hari Meena told HT.

"We have sent her for medical examination and further investigating the case," he added.

Officials said the victim could not describe the location of the scene of crime as she is not aware of the landmarks in the area.

"We are sending police teams to trace the location where she was subjected to the crime. As per the initial complaint, the girl went out for her coaching at around 3pm and returned late to her house at around 7:30pm," Vijay Nagar station officer Avdhesh Yadav told HT.

Police are also trying to ascertain the age of the three men to find out whether they were minors.
