Police suspect that the woman eloped with her lover after they informed her about finding a man’s decomposed body in a Greater Noida village.

After lodging a missing persons complaint about her husband on March 10, Mohsina used to go to the police station every day seeking police help to trace the husband. However, she has been absconding since his body was found.

On Wednesday, the police finally recovered the decomposed body from a secluded area in Roopwas village of Gautam Budh Nagar district. The victim was identified as Nazaqat, 35, who resided with his family in Santosh Nagar.

Police said the man went missing from his home on March 9 and Mohsina lodged a complaint in Surajpur police station on March 10. After her complaint, Nazaqat’s parents too approached the police with a complaint that their son has been murdered.

The parents had alleged that their son had a strained relationship with his wife and they used to fight every day. Nazaqat, a scrap dealer from Hapur, had shifted to Santosh Nagar eight months ago.

Nazaqat had suspected his wife of adultery. Police said he had read conversations between his wife and another man on the phone, which led to altercations between Mohsina and Nazaqat.

According to the police, Mohsina’s alleged lover would visit their home in Santosh Nagar as well and Nazaqat’s parents had to intervene often in fights. To put an end to the matter, Mohsina planned to eliminate her husband, police said.

After lodging a police complaint, Mohsina had even threatened to commit suicide if her husband was not found. However, on Wednesday, when police found the body, they called Mohsina to identify it. Police said she was at home when they called her, but later she absconded. She also switched off her phone and left home with a bag.

The body was finally identified by Nazaqat’s parents.

Police said Mohsina’s alleged lover was also missing from his home when a police team reached there.

“The body has been sent for a postmortem examination, but preliminary investigations suggest Nazaqat was strangulated. The woman and her lover are evading arrest, but we are trying to nab them soon. Further details will emerge only after questioning,” said Anuj Kumar, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
