PV Sindhu, the only Indian to have won two bronze medals in the prestigious tournament, has been given the fourth seeding for the women’s singles competition. Saina Nehwal has been seeded twelfth.

Meanwhile in the men’s singles, three Indians – Kidambi Srikanth, Ajay Jayaram and B Sai Praneeth – have been seeded within the top 15. This means India’s medal hopes are plentiful this time around.

In fact, there are 12 Indian players in the top 100 of the Men’s Singles list in the recently released BWF rankings. This was pointed out by Twitter user India@Sports in a picture posted by the account.

It is an achievement that highlights just how much progress is being made in the sport of badminton by Indian players.

The BWF World Championships will begin on 21st August, 2017 and will take place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
