Indian shuttlers have been doing well for themselves in recent years and this was reflective in the seedings for the tournament, which were recently released.
PV Sindhu, the only Indian to have won two bronze medals in the prestigious tournament, has been given the fourth seeding for the women’s singles competition. Saina Nehwal has been seeded twelfth.
Meanwhile in the men’s singles, three Indians – Kidambi Srikanth, Ajay Jayaram and B Sai Praneeth – have been seeded within the top 15. This means India’s medal hopes are plentiful this time around.
