India’s hopes of regaining its Olympic status at the International Olympic Committee meeting in Lausanne on Wednesday was dealt a big blow after reports that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) had backed out of the conclave.

India will already miss top sports administrators — VK Malhotra, IOA acting president, and Randhir Singh, the country’s IOC member — both of whom pulled out of the meeting. But the delegation remains hopeful. “We are looking forward to the meeting,” said Narinder Batra, one of the members of the delegation.
