For several weeks now, Olympian Rajyavardhan Rathore has exhorted fans to go to the hockey World Cup, assuring them that he, courtesy Hero Honda, would be at the event.

On the opening day, he lived up to his promise, and was extremely happy with the crowd response.

“The stadium is almost packed and this is just the second match,” the ace shooter said. “We have enough love to share with each sport and I am glad to see the love for hockey, our national sport, here.”

Rathore, who was happy to sit with fans, and was mobbed more than once, had only one complaint. “In the US, they have events of the same magnitude, frequently, yet their security blanket is invisible but effective.”
