Three out of four Indian boxers won their quarterfinal bouts today, in addition to four boxers who had already won their bouts yesterday, to advance to the last four stage.

This will be a new record of eight medals for India at Asian women boxing competition.

On the day, five-time world champion MC Mary Kom, Monica Saun and Pooja Rani won their respective quarterfinal fights, but Mandakini Chanu went down despite fighting bravely.

'Tough group will motivate us'
Lucknow: Star drag-flicker Sandeep Singh feels a tough group in the upcoming Olympic Games will only motivate the team to come out with a positive intent.

India have been placed alongside former Olympic champions Germany, Netherlands, Korea, New Zealand and Belgium, but Sandeep said the strong line-up will not be a deterrent for the eight-time champions. "This has further motivated and increased the confidence of the players."
