India have been handed easy draws for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup finals, which were released in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

India have been handed easy draws for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup finals, which were released in Kuala Lumpur on Monday. India have been grouped with Korea and South Africa in Uber Cup while the men's team are drawn with Indonesia and Australia in Thomas Cup.

National coach, Pullela Gopichand, said it was an expected draw. "I was expecting one weaker team in both the tournaments. We should be able to beat South Africa and Australia. I am definitely looking for a semifinal berth in both the events," he said.

The finals will be hosted at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil from May 9-16.

Twelve teams have qualified for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup finals and this year's edition will see a revised format.

In the two-stage, two-draw format, only the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stage - the quarterfinals.

Previously, all three teams from the four groups progressed to the next stage.
