Plan afoot to ease weapons shortage
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is planning to put an end to the problem of lack of equipment and ammunition faced by shooters at the grassroots level.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is planning to put an end to the problem of lack of equipment and ammunition faced by shooters at the grassroots level.
NRAI president, Raninder Singh, said on Tuesday that the federation would come up with a policy under which shooters across the country would get weapons at discounted rates.
The proposal, when finalised, will benefit both shotgun and rifle/pistol marksmen, said Raninder.
“We have asked leading manufacturers in Europe, dealing in shooting equipment, to give us discounts,” he said. As per the plan, the federation, after procuring weapons, would distribute them to the state units. Upcoming shooters in India continue to struggle and compete with borrowed weapons.
The NRAI chief clarified that the federation's name had erroneously appeared on the website of one of the manufacturers. NRAI has asked the firm to remove its name from its list of distributors in India.
