Seeds fell on Wednesday as Nidhi Chilumula, seeded second, and fifth seed Ankita Raina lost their first round matches in the ITF $10,000 Women's tournament at the RK Khanna Stadium.

Nidhi lost to Sharmada Balu 4-6, 1-6 in a match that lasted over an hour.

Shweta Rana accounted for compatriot Ankita Raina in a keenly contested match and won 6-4, 7-6 (6).

Veteran Rushmi Chakravarthi lost the opening round to talented youngster Natasha Palha. Natasha won 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the longest match of the day.
