The state police headquarters (SPH) launched the threeday drive on August 31 to reduce the number of pending case in several police stations while aiming to flush out criminals.
Over the last three months public prosecutors had been consistently reminding the state government of non-compliance in a large number of non-bailable warrants issued to police stations across the state. As a result, the number of pending cases were mounting.
Altogether 12,216 criminals, wanted in various cases were arrested in the last 48 hours from across the state. Over 6700 criminals were said to be warrantees in different cases while 5400 anti-socials were involved in different crimes.
During the drive, the police has busted a mini-gun factory, recovered five firearms, nine live cartridges, three cell phones and Rs 4850 in cash. Police also recovered two abducted girls in Khagaria and Bhagalpur.
ADG (headquarters) Ravindra Kumar said, at least 1616 criminals were arrested from Muzaffarpur while Patna police nabbed 637. Similarly Nalanda police have nabbed 463 criminals in the last 48 hours while Gaya police rounded up 424 criminals.
Police in Jehanabad, Bettiah, Buxar, Araria, Munger, Sheikhpura, Naugachhia, Darbhanga, Bagaha, Sheohar, Kaimur and Nawada districts have failed to cross the doubledigit mark in arresting wanted criminals.
