At least 20 people were killed when a jeep carrying a marriage party fell into a water-filled ditch in Patna in the wee hours on Tuesday, police said.
"The dead include 10 women and nine children," Superintendent of Police (city) Anwar Hussain told PTI.
The tragedy occurred when the victims, all belonging to the bride's side, were returning to their home in Janipur locality in the state capital after solemnising the marriage at a temple in Alamganj in the old city area.
"It was raining heavily and the driver lost control of the vehicle which plunged into the ditch," he said.
All bodies have been fished out and sent for post-mortem, the SP said.
