Bihar IPS officer punished for graft
The Bihar government has suspended 1997-batch IPS officer Alok Kumar for allegedly trying to extort Rs 10 crore from a liquor vendor during his tenure as deputy inspector general of police, Saran range.

The Bihar government has suspended 1997-batch IPS officer Alok Kumar for allegedly trying to extort Rs 10 crore from a liquor vendor during his tenure as deputy inspector general of police, Saran range.
The home department notified the suspension on Tuesday. Kumar was divested of his Saran charge and moved to the police headquarters in Patna after the police administration found the charges against him to be prima facie true.
Kumar faces charges of misuse of office for personal interest, corrupt practices and dereliction of duty.
