"It is clear that people have voted for development and not for caste," Hussain, a former central cabinet minister said. "Nitish Kumar is set to return to power."
Hussain, the most prominent Muslim face of the BJP, said the Bihar verdict would prove to be a watershed in Indian politics.
BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Bihar is rewriting the grammar of India's politics. It is a gate opener for new things to come."
"All those who believe in anti-Congress as matter of condition must look ahead at BJP before 2014," Prasad said.
