A senior CBI official admitted on Wednesday that over 1,000 SMSes have been received from Bihar and Jharkhand. “Some of the informants, whose identity has been kept secret, revealed the modus operandi of the dishonest public servants,” the officer disclosed.

He said teams have already been briefed about such corrupt public servants and they would be caught soon. “We work secretly and hope to do justice with every information we received,” he added.

The officer said, “In the past two days alone, we received over 400 SMSes,” he said. He, however, refused to disclose the name of the department against which the maximum complaints have been made.

“Initially, I was hesitant about giving information through SMS. But, I got it verified and then sent a message to the officer concerned, without disclosing my identity,” said a senior bank official.

Notably, the CBI had appealed to BSNL subscribers, “Don’t pay bribe. Inform the SP, CBI, if a demand of bribe by a Central Government employee comes to your notice, on telephone numbers-0612-2235566/9431821763 (Bihar) and 9431706801 Jharkhand,” the SMS said.
