The incident took place in Tanishq showroom situated on Fraser Road in central Patna on Friday.

Though the crime was recorded in the CCTV camera installed in the showroom, the police have been unable to identify the women's identities as their faces were covered with scarfs and hats.

"We still have no clue about their identities are their faces are not clear in the CCTV footage. As of now, we have made little progress in the case," Patna city superintendent of police Jayant Kant told HT.

The women, believed to be from Singapore, arrived at the store at around 11am and asked the attendants to show them a variety of expensive gold jewellery.

Two of the women asked the guard to fetch them drinking water. "As soon as the guard went to get the water, one woman slipped eight gold bangles into her bag," said showroom in-charge Umesh Tekriwal.

"The women left the store without buying anything. We were later shocked to find eight gold bangles missing," Tekriwal added.
