Garibrath engine catches fire in Patna, no casualty

The engine of New Delhi-bound Garibrath Express caught fire near Barahia railway station under Patna-Jhajha section in Bihar on Saturday but a disaster was averted as the driver stopped the locomotive as soon as he spotted the flames.

The engine of New Delhi-bound Garibrath Express caught fire near Barahia railway station under Patna-Jhajha section in Bihar on Saturday but a disaster was averted as the driver stopped the locomotive as soon as he spotted the flames.

Railway sources said the flames were soon doused by the railwaymen and the damaged engine replaced with a new one after which the train resumed its journey.

There was no casualty or injury due to the fire, which was believed to have occured due to some technical reason but rail traffic along Patna-Jhajha section was disrupted for about two hours, the sources said.
