The Bihar-Jharkhand Motion Pictures Association (BJMPA) has banned Govinda’s films in the two states.

The ban came following his alleged support to Raj Thackeray’s stand against north Indians.
Confirming the ban, Ujjawal Kumar, an executive member of the BJMPA, said strict actions would be taken against all those who created regional divide. “Be it Govinda or any other actor, the use of words hurting sentiments of the Biharis is not justified. The BJMPA has decided not to allow Govinda’s new films to be released in Bihar and Jharkhand. Even his old movies will not be screened,” he said.
