At least six Maoists were killed on Saturday in a gunfight with police in Majhadih, a forested area in Banka district, about 150 km from Patna. A guerrilla was arrested and 200 live cartridges, one AK-47 and two SLRs were also recovered from the site.

The two-day strike has been called by the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist, a police officer said.
