Pratibha Anand, 23, an MBA student at Patna's Zakir Hussain Management Institute, was kidnapped from Digha police station area in Patna on Thursday when she was returning home.

Pratibha's father Amrendra Kumar Singh, an official in the Post and Telegraph Department in Patna, has made a complaint.

Singh said that he had received ransom calls from the abductors twice. "The abductors threatened me and told me not to inform the police or media. They warned me that they would kill my daughter if I failed to pay the ransom,” Singh told IANS.

The abductors have demanded Rs.1 million from Singh. Pratibha is the only daughter of Singh and was to be married at the end of this year.
