A shooting at a subway in New York's city Brooklyn left at least 16 people injured and triggered pandemonium in the area Tuesday morning, according to reports by foreign agencies. Ambulances lined the area as wounded passengers escaped a smoke-filled train. A New York City fire department official said police responded to a 911 call from a person who was shot. Shortly after, the New York Police Department took to Twitter to state that no active explosive devices had been recovered, contrary to earlier reports. At the time of writing, the suspect remains at large; police are looking for a man in a gas mask and orange construction vest. NBC said the suspect may have tossed a gas canister into the crowd before the shooting. The incident occurred as the train was moving towards the 36th Street platform, one eyewitness told CNN. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Twitter that US President Joe Biden has been briefed on the latest developments regarding the situation.
