Photos: 74th Independence Day celebrations across India
India celebrated its 74th Independence Day amid the coronavirus. The annual fixtures of parades, flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural events that mark the occasion were scaled down this year and instead symbolized by face masks and social distancing in observances across the country. Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort were scaled down year with around 4,000 invites, a quarter of the usual issued to political leaders, officers, diplomats and others. School children, who usually attend the event dressed in the colours of the national flag, were not present this time due to the coronavirus. Instead, 500 NCC cadets were invited to the event.
