Photos: PM Modi inaugurates Delhi-Meerut Expressway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway followed by the inauguration of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway on Sunday. Built at the cost of Rs. 841 crore, this stretch which starts from Nizammudin Bridge and runs till the Delhi UP Border will allow commuters to travel from the national capital to Meerut in 45 minutes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled in an open jeep on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) on Sunday to inaugurate the 8.36 km stretch of the highway. This 14 lane expressway starts from Nizammudin Bridge and extends upto Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border. The state-of-the-art expressway has automated challans for over-speeding, as cameras will capture speed of vehicles. Besides, it will have provisions of tolling only for the distance travelled.
