As per the data shared by the education department, in addition to students who did not get or take admissions in this round, 3,706 more students did not get themselves admitted in spite of getting their first preference college allotted to them.
“Every year, we see a section of students who do not chose to be a part of the state-level admission system, mostly because they aspire to move outside, or have last minute preferential changes. However, they still have another shot as the process goes on,” said Meenakshi Raut, assistant director of education. Students who did not complete the process by Thursday, can do so before 6 pm on July 13.
The rest of the students who did not make it in the first round will have to wait for the next list of vacancies. According to the data, a total of 75,939 forms were received, of which, 41,961 students were allotted colleges as per their preference. Of these, 17,189 students were allotted colleges of their first preference.
While 33,978 did not get admissions in the process, 20,510 students did not take admissions, although they were allotted colleges. A total of 21,122 students completed the process and took admissions as per the first merit list.
In order to accommodate more students, the department had extended the deadline for admissions twice this year.
