A 32-year-old woman died after she allegedly jumped from the 10th floor of Sai Capital building on Senapati Bapat road on Saturday evening.
The woman has been identified as Ashwini Sunil Lonkar of Hadapsar. She has been staying at her brother’s home in Kasba peth for the past few days, said a police official. The woman took the extreme step at around 6 pm and onlookers rushed her to the Sassoon General Hospital but doctors could not save her life.
Police sub inspector Prem Waghmare said,‘‘According to preliminary information, the woman was under mental stress from the past few days as her case of divorce was pending in court. She left home to meet her grandmother but instead reached SP road and jumped to death.”
The mobile record of Ashwini shows that she last tried to contact his brother, but he did not answer the call. Hence, she texted him mentioning the address of Sai Capital building, police said.
