The academy which carried out talent scout programmes across the nation in 2018 is all set with its first set-up in India. Along with summer camp, the academy will also provide weekend training, annual training, six-month programme and personal guidance programme from Ryan Van Neikerk, head coach of the academy.

“We are planning one more academy in Bengaluru, but Pune will remain our headquarters,” said Neikerk.

The academy will have 29 practice lanes, including five indoor stretches.

“It will be not be a conventional summer camp. We will focus on skill-based training that kids can learn at different practice lanes. Indoor lanes will be utilised during the monsoon season,” said Niekerk, who will have a team of 10-15 coaches along with him at the academy. The academy will also have two women coaches to train girls separately.

“Since women cricket is played using different techniques, we have on board two women coaches who are from Pune. As the sport has become a platform for girls to excel these days, it needs proper attention,” he said.

Kids above five years of age can join the academy. Registrations for the summer camp and the annual coaching will be held on March 23 and 24.
