Minor booked for molesting minor girl in Nigdi

While the girl is a student of a local school, the apprehended teenager is unemployed and a school dropout, according to the police.

An on-record juvenile was booked for sexually harassing and kidnapping a minor girl known to him. The complaint in the matter was filed by the 15-year-old girl days after the incident.

The incident happened on the evening of July 23 when the girl was on her way home. The apprehended juvenile and three of his friends were in a car when they came across the girl. They pulled her in the car and touched her inappropriately, according to her complaint.

"We apprehended him and found him to have a record of seven to eight cases, including body offences and theft. However, we later found that he had recently turned 17 years old," said police sub-inspector (PSI) Nilesh Jagtap of Nigdi police station, who is investigating the case.

He was produced in the juvenile justice board (JJB), Yerawada, on Wednesday, and sent to the observation home by the board. "We will talk to him at the observation home to identify the others. The girl could only identify the one who was apprehended," said PSI Jagtap.

While the girl is a student of a local school, the apprehended teenager is unemployed and a school dropout, according to the police. The two live in the same locality and are known to each other.A case under Sections 354 (sexual harassment), 366(a) (procuration of minor girl) of Indian Penal Code and Sections 8 (punishment for sexual assault) and 12 (punishment for sexual harassment) of Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) was registered against the four people at Nigdi police station.

Man, brother booked for sexual harassment, abetment to suicide of former’s wife

A 32-year-old man from Thergaon was booked for abetment to suicide and conspiracy to kill his wife while his brother was booked for sexually harassing her. The case was registered over 10 days after the man’s wife hanged herself at their residence. The deceased woman was 35 years old, while her husband, Shaikh, who is a tailor, was 39 years old. They are both residents of Boratenagar area in Thergaon. She hanged herself at 1:30 pm on July 14 and her body was sent for post-mortem at Yashwantrao Chavan memorial hospital in Pimpri. The woman’s death was recorded as an accidental death at Wakad police station.

“We received a written complaint from one of the deceased woman’s brothers. She hanged herself on July 14. He has alleged that she was sexually harassed by her brother-in-law. We have not invoked 498(a) (domestic violence) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) yet as the investigation in the matter is still underway,” said Kengar, police sub-inspector (PSI) of Wakad police station, who is investigating the case.

Three other members of the family, including his brother, sister-in-law and mother, were also booked. The two were married since 2003, when the family members allegedly assaulted, and mentally harassed her. “She has never filed a case in the past 16 years of their marriage,” PSI Kengar added.

A case under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 354 (sexual harassment), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (insult with intention of provoking breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120(b) (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Wakad police station against Shaikh and three others.

Married woman alleges sexual assault by 42-year-old lover

A married woman has filed a case of sexual assault against a man who allegedly had intercourse with her under the pretext of marriage and a job. The 42-year-old man booked in the case was found to be a resident of Shewale Park in Shahu colony area of Karvenagar, Pune.

The two were in a physical relationship since 2015, even as the woman was married to another man. The 36-year-old woman alleged in her complaint that he threatened to share illicit pictures of her if she refused to have a physical relationship with her. She listed various places, including a female friend’s rented house, where they both had sex. She further alleged that he promised a flat and a job at a managerial level at Sahyadri agro world in Karad, besides promising to marry her. The woman further alleged that the man threatened to shoot her dead when she complained. A case in the matter was filed on Tuesday night and is being investigated by police sub-inspector PS Gaikwad. The case was registered under Section 376 (2)(n)(sexual assault), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Warje Malwadi police station against the man.
