Prerna Vichare through to finals and closes gap to her second All-India Ranking U-18 Super Series Tennis Tournament title

In the girls’ singles, top-seeded Prerna Vichare of Maharashtra kept her double crown hopes alive, reaching the singles final. She defeated Sharanya Shetty 6-4, 6-2 and will now take on sixth-seeded Lakshmi Vuttukuru of Andhra Pradesh, who got past a hard fighting state girl Akanksha Nitture 7-5, 1-6, 6-2.

Top-seeds Kaivalya Kalamse of Nanded and Prerna Vichare of Mumbai kept their performances high to enter the finals of the boys and the girls’ event respectively in the ninth edition Om Dalvi Memorial Skyi Developers Trophy All India Ranking U-18 Super Series Tennis Tournament at Maharashtra Police Tennis Gymkhana, Parihar Chowk, Aundh on Thursday.

Kalamse outplayed third-seeded Arnold Inigo Tamilnadu 6-2, 6-4 to set up a title clash with another Tamil Nadu player Aman Khan. The finalist defeated tenth-seeded Kaushal Pujala of Telangana 6-0, 2-6, 7-5 in another semifinal.

Meanwhile, in boys’ doubles, Rajesh Kannan and Udit Kamboj registered a 6-1, 6-4 win over Amaan Khan and Arthav Neema to win the title.
