Pune boy Utkarsha Gor swims his way to three titles at Late Shree Ramesh Damle Championship
The championship was organised by the Pune District Amateur Aquatic Association at Tilak Tank on Sunday.
City boy Utkarsha Gor swept up three titles at the Late Shree Ramesh Damle Championship organised by the Pune District Amateur Aquatic Association at Tilak Tank on Sunday.
Utkarsha, who trains with Bhupendra Acharekar of Harmony club, won his first title in the boys under-12 50m butterfly event. Utkarsha finished the race in 31.55s to finish ahead of Arnav Bhadekar of the Champions Aquatic club, who clocked 32.44s and Kaushik Shirolkar of Solaris club who clocked 36.12s.
Despite his great performance, Utkarsha failed to break the district record of 31.43s set by Anvesh Prasade in 2017.
In the 100m butterfly event, Utkarsha finished first, clocking 1:12.25s. Arnav Bhadekar finished second with a time of 1:14.84s and Chaitnya Patil of Shark club finished third.
Utkarsha’s third title came in the 200m individual medley event. He finished the race in 2:43.98s and was closely followed by Ameya Palamwar of Harmony club and Chaityna Patil who clinched silver and bronze respectively.
In the girls’ under-17 age group, Yukta Wakharia from Harmony club dominated the event by winning three titles. She won her first title in the 400m individual medley. She clocked a time of 6:01.59s and was closely followed by Shalmali Walunjkar of Champions club and Ria Taori of Harmony club.
Yukta won her second title in the 200m individual medley event. She finished the race in 2:45.20s. Harmony club swimmers, Gautami Gadgil and Ria Taori finished in second and third place respectively.
In the 50m butterfly event, Yukta grabbed gold in 31.58s. Nandini Petkar of Blue Water club came in second and Nishita Agarwal of Deccan Gymkhana came in third.
