Under -14 national tennis: Dhamne cruises into round two

City-based player Manas Dhamne entered round two of the MSLTA Yonex Sunrise Hotel Ravine under-14 national ranking tennis tournament at Ravine hotel courts on Monday.

Top seeded for the tournament, Dhamne easily defeated state-mate Arjun Abhyankar 6-2, 6-1.

Joshua John Eapen, another Maharashtra player, also entered round two with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over fifth seeded Omaansh Saharia of Delhi.

In another opening match of the day, qualifier Ayaan Girdhar maintained his good run accounting for Manvardhan Rakhecha of Madhya Pradesh 6-2, 7-5.

Other Maharashtra players who made it to the second round are Radhey Shahane, Prathamesh Patil, Prajwal Tewari, Jaishnav Shinde, Aryan Hood and Neel Joglekar.

Sixth seeded Adith Amarnath and seventh seeded Jigyashman Hazarika also made it to the second round. In an all-Karnataka battle, Amarnath got the better of Ved Mudkavi. Assam player Hazarika overcame Atharva Patel of Gujarat 6-3, 6-1. The tournament is organised by Ravine hotel at their tennis courts in association with Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA).
