2 arrested with heroin in Moga

"The police had received a tip-off that some drug smugglers were trying to sell heroin near a college. We barricaded the Moga-Amritsar state highway. A special police party headed by senior official Kashmir Singh stopped Buta Singh at the check point and recovered 42gm of heroin from him," said the SSP.
Another police party of Fatehgarh Panjtoor police station put up a check point near Daulewala village and arrested Avtar Singh with 35gm heroin.
The SSP said the cost of the drug is said to be more than Rs 4 lakh in the international market. "Two separate cases have been registered against Buta Singh and Avtar Singh under the NDPS Act and the police will produce the two in the court of the duty magistrate on Sunday," the SSP added.
"We are investigating from where the accused used to bring the drugs and where were they sold. In the preliminary investigation, it was found that the two had indulged in drug peddling for years and used to smuggle poppy husk earlier," the SSP said.
