3 held for duping couples
The local police on Monday arrested three persons for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing compensation under MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal's infamous campaign against female foeticide named "Nanhi Chaan".

The accused have been identified as Ajay Kumar, Satnam Singh and Jagmail Singh, all residents of Tapa, near here.
Investigation officer Sanjeev Singla said the police team raided the shops of the accused outside the sub-divisional magistrate's office on tip-off.
The police said they came to know that the accused were befooling couples having daughters, assuring them to provide compensation under the scheme and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandakh Committee.
The police said the accused had been committing this crime for the past four months and charged Rs 400to Rs 500 for filling forms to get benefit under the above schemes.
The police also recovered 33 forms from the possession of the accused.
