30 injured as bus turns turtle

At least 30 passengers were injured after a PRTC bus went off the road and turned turtle as a school van, trying to overtake a tractor-trolley, partially collided with the bus on the Patiala-Sangrur road near Shakhupura village in the district. The school van, which was empty, escaped undamaged. However, the van driver suffered minor injuries.

At least 30 passengers were injured after a PRTC bus went off the road and turned turtle as a school van, trying to overtake a tractor-trolley, partially collided with the bus on the Patiala-Sangrur road near Shakhupura village in the district. The school van, which was empty, escaped undamaged. However, the van driver suffered minor injuries.


As per information, the accident took place when the driver of the school van (PB 11AQ 9888) lost control over the vehicle and it had a brush with the bus (PB 13X 8538), which was coming from the Patiala side.

The windowpanes of the bus got smashed completely and the bus rolled down the road. The police, with the help of the local people, shifted the injured passengers to various hospitals. Station house officer (SHO) Pasiana Puneet Singh said that some of the injured were admitted in hospitals in Sangrur and the people with serious injuries were taken to the Rajendra hospital in Patiala.

    UP cabinet decides to do away with British-era jail manual

    Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to notify the Uttar Pradesh Jail Manual 2022 to replace the one that came into force during British rule in 1941, and has been amended several times since. It classifies the state's prisons into four categories with inmate populations ranging from 1,000 to 2,000. Pregnant women will be given additional nutritious food.     Migrant labourer held for rape-murder of 6-year-old girl in Panipat

    A day after the body of a six-year-old girl was recovered from a deserted place near a drain in Panipat city, the police arrested a 40-year-old migrant labourer for the rape and murder of the girl. The police said that the accused, Ishwar Singh belongs to Chamoli in Uttarakhand, and he was living in Panipat for the past 15 years as he worked at a dhaba there.

    Back-to-back terror attacks put Kashmir on the edge
