The court has also directed the investigation officer at the Sector 11 police station to get a medical report of the victim and submit it before the court. The report is expected to be submitted by Monday, when the court may take a call on the abortion.
Police had arrested the victim’s 17-year-old boyfriend on August 9 for allegedly raping and impregnating his teen girlfriend. He is facing charges of rape under the Indian Penal Code, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The rape came to light on August 8 when the girl was questioned by her mother about her delayed menstruation. On being questioned about her health, the girl revealed to her mother about being raped by her boyfriend.
Her family then took her to a local hospital in Chandigarh where a team doctors after checkup found the girl to be six months pregnant.
As the girl is a minor, the doctors sounded the police, who then arrested the boy.
