Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday congratulated the four candidates of Punjab origin, along with eight other candidates of Indian origin, elected to the British House of Commons on Friday.

Describing their victory as the dawn of a new era, the CM said these leaders have scripted a new success story.

The victory of first female Sikh MP Preet Kaur Gill and first turbaned Sikh Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi in England along with two other MPs of Punjab origin — Virender Sharma and Seema Malhotra — has endorsed the indomitable spirit of Punjabis, said Capt.
