Another farmer committed suicide by hanging himself from the iron grill of a well in his fields at Bhagwanpur village in this district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Jagdev Singh, 52, who was upset over the loss to his cotton crop.
According to information, Jagdev owned five acres and had taken five more on lease for cultivation of cotton crop, which was destroyed completely due to the whitefly attack.
The family said he owed Rs 3 lakh to a commission agent and agricultural societies. “He was in depression since his cotton crop got severely damaged. We came to know about his death when he didn’t return from the fields and found him hanging from an iron grill,” said his family.
This is fifth incident of farmer suicide in the district in 18 days.
