Audi hits scooter, bicycle on Jalandhar-Pathankot highway; student killed, 7 injured

As per eyewitnesses, an Audi (HR 29 A 0004), coming from the Pathankot side, heading towards Delhi, hit a bicyclist and an Activa and rolled down the road and got badly damaged.

A teenager was killed and seven others were injured in a road accident on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway in Tanda around 7am on Thursday. The injured were admitted to a private hospital in Jalandhar.

As per eyewitnesses, an Audi (HR 29 A 0004), coming from the Pathankot side, heading towards Delhi, hit a bicyclist and an Activa and rolled down the road and got badly damaged. Bicyclist Manpreet Singh,17, of Rajdhan village died on the spot while his brother Gurkirat Singh,15, who was also sitting on the bicycle , was seriously injured. Scooterist Rupinder Singh of Dhullan village and car occupants Shubham Aggarwal, his mother Suman, wife Shiny, brother Danish, sister Anshu Gupta and niece Avni Gupta of Delhi were injured and shifted to the hospital immediately.

Police said the car-borne family hails from Jammu and was heading towards Delhi. Shubham, around 35, was driving the car. He runs a business in Delhi.

Till the time of filing the report, no case was registered. Tanda station house officer Pardip Singh said the father of the deceased, on whose complaint the case was to be filed, was busy with the treatment of his injured son. The deceased was a student of Class-12 in DAV School, Power Colony, Tanda, while his injured brother is in Class 10.
