Alleging secret alliance between the ruling Congress and opposition SAD-BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president Bhagwant Mann on Monday said the Capt Amainder Singh government is shying away from taking action against Akalis who are facing graft charges.

“There is an intimacy between CM Capt Amainder Singh and Parkash Singh Badal,” he said while speaking at his party’s political rally organised to mark ‘Rakhar Punya’ here. He said AAP had repeatedly warned the people of Punjab before the assembly elections that the SAD-BJP and Congress were in a “secret alliance” to keep AAP away from power in the state. “They know that if AAP comes to power in Punjab, illegal businesses being run by Akalis and Congress leaders will come to a halt and their nefarious designs will stand exposed in the front of the public,” said the Sangrur MP.

He said the sole objective of the Congress was to grab power and Amarinder is now running away from fulfilling most of his pre-poll promises.

Leader of Opposition and AAP MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira said the Congress government has cheated the farmers by making false promise of a complete debt waiver. “People believed Amarinder’s assurances but the CM has now completely shattered the dreams of farmers, who were already facing the wrath of the Modi government,” he said.

He said anti-farmer policies of the government have led to rise in suicides and if remedial steps are not taken immediately, it will have severe repercussions. Khaira also appealed NRI Punjabis to come forward to help poor farmers and farm labourers in the state. Among others who spoke on the occasion were AAP MP Prof Sadhu Singh, party MLAS Pirmal Singh, Meet Hayer, Sarabjit Kaur, Nazar Singh, Jagdev Singh and Jai Krishan.
