CBI raids NIPER, grills officials

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team on Friday morning raided the premises of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in SAS Nagar, Punjab. Four teams of the central agency reached the institute at 8am and searched the offices.

The agency also carried out searches at the residences of some of the institute’s officials, including that of officiating director KK Bhutani.

Sources said there were complaints that the funds granted to the institute were diverted. The searches were on when this report was filed in the afternoon.
