CII launches advance cluster programme for industry
The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in association with Avantha Centre for Competitiveness for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Chandigarh, has launched an advance cluster programme.
“The Ludhiana heterogeneous cluster has a huge potential in terms of savings that can accrue to the participating cluster companies. So far 13 clusters have been completed by us in Punjab, which has resulted in savings of more than Rs 500 million,” said Ravinder Kumar, principal counsellor, CII-Avantha Centre.
“This is the first advance cluster in Ludhiana. Apart from benefits in terms of savings, the Ludhiana advance cluster is sure to lead to perceptible changes in the work culture of the participating companies and breakthroughs in the shop floor,” said Kumar.
The six companies of the cluster programme include -- Eurodec Paints, Majestic Auto Limited, Shakunt Enterprises, Bectors Food Specialities Private Limited, Ralson India Limited and Ajay Industries Limited.
“A cluster is a group of companies partnering together for improving their performance through mutual learning and sharing. Through the cluster approach, the participating SMEs in a cluster are able to improve their inventory turnover ratio, reduce rejections and re-work, improve their delivery schedules, space utilization and reduce energy consumption and mitigate various forms of customer complaints. All this results in huge financial savings for the SME concerned,” Kumar said.
