In a press release issued here, Neena said the outgoing state Congress president, Captain Amarinder Singh, remained a force to reckon with in state politics. "He make a good contribution to the state as chief minister from 2002 to 2007," said the Congress leader. "The CM should pay attention to the deteriorating law and order and financial health of Punjab."

The senior Badal had compared Amarinder's removal with the sacking of a peon. "Our leaders require no certificate from the Badal family or the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)," he said, asking the CM to tender an apology. "The Akalis still fear Amarinder," he said.

Every Congressman followed the party's directions, and Amarinder also had done the same, said Neena.
