Congress MLA from Patiala (rural) Brahm Mohindra said largescale violence at Patran, Shutrana and Samana indicated that Akalis used every mean to rig polling. "Congress supporters, however, put a brave front and managed to cast their votes. Akalis will see massive defeat in many segments," he said.

"We have come to know that the Akalis will now try to manipulate counting of votes. The election staff says political representative will sit five feet away from the counting tables, then who will ensure that counting is fare," said Mohindra.

He said the district administration should ensure fair counting as it was the moral duty of officers to respect the verdict of the public.
