The prayer ceremony was attended by the members of the Tibetan supreme justice commission, including, the chief justice commissioner Kargyu Dhondup, justice commissioner Ngawang Rabgyal, speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, members of the Kashag (cabinet of exile government), deputy speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, members of the Tibetan Parliament, chief election commissioner Sonam Choephel Shosur and the auditor general Arya Pema Dadul.

The annual ‘Maha Guru’ prayer offering is a Tibetan Buddhist ritual held every year in the fifth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. The prayer service involves several days of prayers and distribution of food and edibles on a large scale to devotees. Local Tibetan and non-Tibetan devotees attend this ritual offering.

The prayer service will conclude on June 23.

A news website had published an article claiming that the Dalai Lama was terminally ill and suffers with prostate cancer. However, refuting the report as absolutely false, the personal physician of the Dalai Lama and other aids said he was completely fit and healthy.
