Govt notifies setting up of commission for Scheduled Castes

The Haryana government has notified the setting up of the Haryana state commission for scheduled castes in the state. A spokesman of welfare of scheduled castes and backward classes department said in a release on Friday that the commission would consist of total of four members, including the chairperson.

A spokesman of welfare of scheduled castes and backward classes department said in a release on Friday that the commission would consist of total of four members, including the chairperson.

He said that the commission on a reference from the government would investigate, examine and monitor all matters relating to the safeguards provided for the scheduled castes under the Constitution of India or under any other law for the time being in force or under any order of the government and to evaluate the working of such safeguards.

It would participate and advise on the planning process of socio-economic and educational development of the scheduled castes and to evaluate the progress of their development.

Apart from this, the commission would also advise the government on legislative and developmental policies affecting the scheduled castes.
