Govt, private doctors' to jointly hold surgical treatment camps in rural areas

Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Desraj Sharma informed that the government and private hospital specialist doctors' will provide multi-specialty surgical treatment facilities jointly in rural areas and such kind of experiment is going to be happen for the first time.

He said specialist camps would be organised under National Rural Health Mission and institutes such as Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, RP Medical College, Tanda and private hospital doctors will provide free surgical treatment and operations would be done in mobile operation theatre van in the rural areas.

“Facilities of surgery, anesthesia, eye, gynecology and radiology will be available in these multi-specialty surgical treatment camps,” he added.

The government has decided to organise such camps in six districts which includes Mandi, Kullu, Chamba, Nahan, Solan and Kinnaur in the first phase and in Mandi district, a series of these week-long camps will begin from November 18 in Karsog and will conclude at Kataula on January 14, 2015.

He said a number of social and volunteer organisations have joined hands with Mandi Zonal Hospital authorities and committed to provide every possible help during the camps.
