After managing to get CCTV footage of the suspect in the kidnapping case of a five-year-old girl named Kanchan, the city police has not only released the CCTV grab of the suspect, but also announced suitable reward for anyone giving a tip off about her.

Notably, Kanchan had come to the local gurudwara Shaheedan Sahib with her mother Sangeeta on Sunday. When Sangeeta was standing in the queue for getting ‘parsad’ slip, Kanchan suddenly went missing.

Though the Amritsar police have not managed to make any breakthrough in this case, it is highly suspecting another woman present in the shrine of taking away the child. The police have already registered a case in this regard.

Talking to HT, assistant commissioner of police (south) Prabhjot Singh said, “It was a blind case when we received the complaint. After consistent efforts and zooming in the CCTV grabs from cameras in the gurdwara, we spotted a suspect lady.”

He added, “Preliminary investigations show that a lady in black dupatta is taking Kanchan outside the gurudwara. In the CCTV footage, this lady is seen following the child and is our prime suspect.”

The police are trying to spread this CCTV grab and pictures of the child as well as the suspect via social media platforms too.

Also promising a reward for anybody who provides information of the child or the suspect, ACP Prabhjot Singh said, “The police commissioner will reward any person who comes forward with a vital input in this case. The name of the informer will be kept secret.”

Notably, the police have registered a case of kidnapping against unidentified person in the local C-Division police station.
