The Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board has announced incentives of Rs 20 crore to rural unemployed youth for setting up khadi and village industries and will also provide necessary training to them.

Chairman Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board Harjit Singh Grewal said the National Commission of Village and Khadi Board had decided to hold around 25 awareness training camps in rural areas to achieve the target of providing employment to 20,000-25,000 people.

The board has planned to make khadi and village industries more profitable by arranging its production and marketing, he said.

The board has also proposed to set up a honey cluster soon so that honey production and marketing could be encouraged and made profitable, he added.

He added that the aim of all such exercises was to ensure that the common villager’s quality of life improved.
