Leaders seek release of Sikh prisoners

Leaders of Sikh organisations from here met Basant Garg, deputy commissioner on Friday and submitted to him a memorandum demanding unconditional and permanent release of Sikh prisoners, including Sikh leader Gurdeep Singh and others.

Leaders of Sikh organisations from here met Basant Garg, deputy commissioner on Friday and submitted to him a memorandum demanding unconditional and permanent release of Sikh prisoners, including Sikh leader Gurdeep Singh and others.

The delegation of stated that they supporte Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa's hunger strike and his demand. They demanded that the prisoners, who had completed their jail terms, should be released. The leaders, who met the DC, belonged to the Akhand Kirtani Jatha, the Shiromni Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani), the SAD (Amritsar), the United Akali Dal, the Panthak Sewa Lehar, the Bathinda Youth Forum, the Guru Ram Das Sewa Society and the Eknoor Khalsa Fouj.
